Sam Love

Sam Love is a writer living in New Bern, NC. He has published numerous nonfiction articles in magazines that include Smithsonian and Washingtonian. He has two published novels, Snap Factor and Electric Honey. He recently published a poetry book, Converging Waters.

He teaches yoga and is one of the organizers of The Nexus Poets, who sponsor the First Tuesday Poetry Open Mike in New Bern. He views his Social Security check as a grant to the arts. His poetry has been published in Kakalak, Slippery Elm, Voices on the Wind, The Lyricist, Flying South, and other publications. His environmental poems appear in both the 2015 and 2016 issues of Eno published by Duke University. His work has also been featured on Poetry in Plain Sight posters in Winston-Salem.

His latest book is a richly illustrated children’s book, My Little Plastic Bag, designed to share with children what happens to a plastic bag thrown out of a car window. It won a Nautilus Silver Metal in the children’s category. It teaches children there is no “away” in nature as it follows the plastic chemicals through the environment until they return home to the family in the fish they purchase at the market. There is also a Spanish edition, Mi Bolsita Plastica.
