To offer those writing poetry a chance to publish their poems and provide information about poetry to the community, the Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department of Carrboro staff began publishing what is now known as the West End Poets Newsletter in 2006. At the start of 2023, 84 editions had been published and the number keeps growing as time goes on.
The current newsletter contains between 9 and 24 pages of poems, listings of poetry readings and events at community bookstores and other local venues, websites relating to all aspects of poetry, invitations to town-sponsored open mic readings on the first Tuesday of the month, poetry workshops, and poetry competitions.
One of the goals of Poetry Revealed is to provide an outlet for poets to introduce themselves and their writings and inform the public of local poetry events and activities. Our "West End Poets Newsletter" is issued bimonthly, and covers the poets and poetry from this area. We welcome input and suggestions from our readers.
